April 24 (Thursday), Jinonice Campus, 15,30-16,50, Jinonice Campus, room B216
Abstract: This mentoring workshop/presentation helps doctoral students and young scholars to navigate budding-PhD and post-PhD careers. It offers guidance on job searching, materials development, interviewing, presenting, negotiating, financial planning, research trajectory, and general professional skills. The goal is to equip participants with actionable knowledge for successful transitions to academic or non-academic (industrial, governmental, NGO, etc.) career paths. Although the presentation’s context may imply some environmental-specificity, it should offer benefits for people from all disciplines.
Who is this workshop/presentation for?: For (a) graduate students of all levels (but especially those who are beyond the first year or so of doctoral study), and (b) young academics (especially those with professional interests in environmental protection and climate change).
Requirements: Some doctoral training (or a high desire to find out what job-prospects await people seeking/attaining doctorates); if you have a resume or curriculum vitae, it might be wise to bring a hardcopy to reflect upon during the session.
