About the Institute

The Institute of Sociological Studies (ISS FSV UK) is a part of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University (FSV UK).

FSV UK was formed in 1990 primarily to raise the level of social science scholarship and sociological research to that of, at the time, more developed programmes around the globe. ISS FSV UK was created in 1993 from the merger of the Department of Sociology and Social Policy and the Institute of Social and Political Sciences of Charles University with the expressed functions of:

  •     Educating professionals in the fields of Sociology, Social Policy and Public Policy;
  •     Developing scientific activity in the field.

ISS FSV UK offers English taught Bachelor's programmes in Social Sciences, Master's and Ph.D. studies in Sociology, and Public and Social Policy.
