Short description

Research into the impacts of COVID on university teachers and students

The project follows a successful study conducted in May 2020 by the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University. At that time, researchers mapped the life and study situation of students. The study was part of the International COVID Well-being Study (ICSWS). Approximately 7,000 students from 7 larger universities (CULS, MU, UHK, ChU, UPOL, TBU, University of Economics, Prague) took part in this study in the Czech Republic.

The results of last year's study were provided to the participating universities and served as a stimulus for their functioning in the next academic year.

The current study is fllow-up oif prevous one. A total of 23 Czech universities (public, private and state) will be included. The research consortium consists of about twenty psychologists and sociologists from several universities in the Czech Republic and also from the Academy of Sciences (Institute of Sociology and Psychology). The aim of the study is to focus on how teachers and students of Czech universities thrive and how they cope not only with distance learning. Anonymous answers will be very useful for both universities and researchers.

The study is approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University.

The results of the study will be provided to individual universities as valuable feedback and will also be used for the preparation of scientific outputs (articles and books).

The main coordinator of the study is Petr Soukup (Institute of Sociological Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University)
