JSM735 Contemporary Challenges of Policy Studies: Workshop on Narrative Policy Framework

The narratives are an important part of policy-making as we can see in a contemporary covid pandemic, climate change, and so on. The Narrative Policy Framework (NPF) addresses the role of narratives in the policy process and it represents one of the most elaborated policy process frameworks. The NPF workshop is led by Dr Michael Jones (University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA), the leading NPF representative, and Vilém Novotný (KVSP ISS UK FSV) and it takes place on May 13, 2022 (THE DATE MIGHT CHANGE DUE TO THE PANDEMICS) 9.20-18.20.  
The course is dedicated to advanced BA students who are interested in policy process research. It focuses on the operationalization and application of NPF to empirical data (interviews, document analysis, media analysis, etc.) and their participatory discussion. The workshop aims to discuss and formulate research designs.

 

JSM740 Dis/advantaging the family and society: the role of the welfare state (ONLINE course)

Who is ‘viewed‘ deserving public support and who not? The study of social inequalities has been one of the major focuses of social sciences.

This course will focus on the role of the welfare state in such inequalities; as the actor intervening in solving social inequalities but also as the actor which creates new or maintain existing inequalities. In an interactive form, the course will try to introduce students to various forms and facets of inequalities (such as gender, sexuality, labour market) and the way how these inequalities, as produced by the welfare state, can be identified.”

The 4EU+ Spring School is designed to get students acquainted with European environmental economics and policy in the case of European Green Deal and it represents a joint effort of University of Heidelberg, Charles University, University of Copenhagen, University of Milano, and University of Warsaw.

It will take place partly online (one week) and partly as a physical gathering (one week) of all the participants at the University of Copehangen.

THE PARTICIPATION OF STUDENTS WILL BE SUBSIDISED BY THE 4EU+ PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF 525 EUR PER STUDENT (travel allowances and living allowances).
